Safari

Have you ever gone to the zoo and looked at the hippos, elephants, and giraffes, and thought how wonderful it would be to see these same animals in their natural habitats on the plains of Africa? Because we remember our first safari and how exciting it was for us to spot our first giraffe in the wild, we try to make it happen for the teams that come to minister with us in Uganda. It is so much fun for us to watch others experience this thrill for themselves.

The Prepare the Way, Living Word, and Pabbo teams prayed for countless people in churches, schools, and villages; many of which were located deep in the bush. We ministered to the individual needs of each home as we went hut to hut. Hundreds of people attended the gospel films shown each evening.

We also loved being with our latest additions, the orphaned children who moved into Agape Home which is Pastor Bosco’s Love Home. After several days of outreach, we said good bye and headed to Murchison Falls National Park which is a wild game preserve located in Western Uganda.

The team grew more excited the closer we came to the park. We entered in the morning and explored the wild until late afternoon. As we drove we frequently heard, “Stop, elephants on the left, or giraffes at 10:00, or water buffalo just ahead in the watering hole.” We saw warthogs, Kobe’s (members of the deer family) and Wallabies (deer family). Such a variety of monkeys, and birds brought us enjoyment, while the baboons amused us. We drove near to where the hippos were enjoying their home in Lake Albert.  The brave ones got as close as they could for a better view. We looked across the Lake to view the Democratic Republic of Congo. We didn’t see any lions, but maybe next time!

You are probably wishing that you could see these animals right now. Well, actually, you can! One of our team members was David Carrick, who is a professional photographer.
